I found this so so interesting. The way you explained things was exactly what my brain responds to.
I have a question however. A very important one for me personally and one I have asked a number of times with no response. I suffer from Lupus (SLE). The illness means that my immune system is on over drive. I have heard you say that the immune system of meditators is improved. Would that make meditation dangerous for people who suffer from Lupus? I know you may not have the answer to this…but if you do I’d be very grateful for your insight.
    Thank you again!

That’s a great question. I have an auto-immune disorder as well (Linear Scleroderma) & your question made me ponder this for myself. I hope you receive an answer to your question. Good luck on your journey!

Thanks so much Paula….Also I was diagnosed a few months just after having started my daily Meditations…and after a week long retreat…..I hope some research will be done of this possibility. All the best and stay strong!

Improve means get your system back to its optimal condition, have no doubt about that. Your brain is in charge of your physiology. Take csre of your brain, it will take care of you.

Thank you Rick for reminding us that Mindfulness is but one of the eight-fold path. I appreciated that you included moral commitment, gratitude, compassion, loving kindness.

This has been the most beneficial session so far for me. I have a Biology background, and absolutely love numbers and data & scientific studies. We hear evidence of Mindfulness improving people’s lives, but to hear the science behind it makes me want to continue to be more Mindful even more so than before. The thought that I could actually change the way my brain functions is absolutely fantastic. Thank you for another great interview. I am enjoying the Summit so much Mellie!

Thank you so much for the science of mindfulness. Science is the best motivator for non-believers. I have found that science really allows skeptics to consider meditative practices and even encourages many to start.
    Thank you

Fascinating. This guy is brilliant As much as I’ve enjoyed the majority of interviews, he is able to put some very complex findings into simple words that the average person can understand. I want to listen again because there was a lot to take in. Did he use the I and eye in both contexts or was I reading something into this. I had never heard the observance of one’s own mind called “the eye” but that makes a lot of sense. I am hooked on this whole topic and very excited to read and learn so much more. I’m biased to Adyashanti because he was my first but will now explore all of these others as well.

Wow, such dense and useful information, Respecting our fundamental caveman brain, especially at the end ( I had to rewind and listen many times ) when answering her question about the possibility of reaching critical mass awareness of population for our planet; mindfulness alone will not do it, but it will get us there. Excellent, and inspiring! Cant wait to get his books! Thank you!
