Question – I was listening to day three at bedtime and lost it in the middle and realized it was a few minutes past midnight and you had switched to day four. I’d really like to listen to the last 9 minutes. Any way I can??
Click on the orange Day 3 link on the top right of this page. I just did – an hour and a half after mid-night my time (California) – and I listened to Day 3’s recording. 😎
The naturalness of these interviews is a real treasure. Thank you Melli and Jono. All you said resonated with me and affirmed my own experiences.
Hi there, on finishing a Vipassana meditation this morning I felt inspired to write these words and thought what better place to share them than the mindfulness summit.
What Is Mindfulness
Mindfulness is a way of life, a lifelong practice A path on which you follow your mind and body with deep awareness It allows you to look closely at yourself gently and with kindness An opening of the heart, an opening of the mind a deeper understanding of your body as a whole
Through mindful living we become more aware of the world around us Giving us endless opportunities to see the miracles of life It allows us to slow down and feel peace and happiness in any given moment Should we be open and willing to accept the experience for what it is
Mindfulness isn’t a cure to illness or an end to all your ails It doesn’t hold all the answers to lifes questions But it can help us understand and accept even our darkest moments And give us the strength to carry on
In my own experience I have found mindfulness to be my helping hand My inner guide to a more fulfilling existence I have become a better person I care more, I share more, I smile more Instead of looking forward with fear or looking back with regret I now look just at this moment where I am, what I am doing
Through meditation I have found an inner peace a calm abiding A more profound understanding of myself and a greater acceptance of the world around me Through practice of mindful movement I have become fitter, healthier and learned to listen to my body and treat it with the respect it deserves
I find joy in so many things that previously passed me by unnoticed The sound of a chirping bird the flash of colour as the sun reflects on its wings The rustling of leaves on a tree in a gentle breeze whispering in my ear The vastness of a clear blue sky overhead vivid and seemingly endless The soothing flow of water passing me by on a slow moving stream The warmth of a smile on the faces of my family and friends touching my heart
My breath is now my closest companion bringing life and energy to my mind and body Yes there are still moments of sadness and suffering but I look upon them differently now I am no longer caught in an endless cycle of anxiety and worry My mind is free now to enjoy and explore lifes wonders My heart can once more feel moments of joy and true love
Mindfulness for me is the gateway to the rest of my life I feel fortunate and blessed to have stumbled upon this path For now, I smile breathe in and breathe out and enjoy this moment.
Love, Peace & Hapiness Zander 🙂
Beautiful
Wonderful to be able to connect with others in sharing the awakening to the universal availability
and simplicity of finding and feeling peaceful.
Juno., thank you, I am a newbie, watching, listening, processing all. I could hear and feel what you were saying, that’s good, and in that brief time, I could clearly see how the mindfulness can be broad out and shared in all venues.
Zander thank you for sharing, as a newbie sometimes I can’t find the words to explain to myself how this change works. You didn’t have to share but you took the time!!!
Well wishes and happiness to all,
Kathleen
Thank you, Zander, for your generous sharing of words.
Very beautifully described, Zander!
From my experience I would like to share that practicing Mindfulness, Vipassana is sort of a delusion removal project.
For the delusions to remove I have to be (come) aware of them, feel them plus the suffering they cause. 🙂
And this means, to remain aware, that painful states arise both in body and mind, stay for a while and disappear again. Somtimes it is enough to just notice and note them and other times a bit of investigation leads to insights that bring about change.
Noticing the so called dark sides of “my” personality was quite hard in the beginning … However, the more the mind and the nervous system are trained to stay with whatever arises – in a truly compassionate manner – the easier it gets to sit with all phenomena.
Mindfulness, Vipassana exercises train and trigger the body-mind organism to return to functioning in a truly natural way – for the good of all.
May you be well and liberated 🙂 <3
Dear Zander what a lovely piece you have shared with us. Thank you so much.
Ruth ????
Thank you for your lovely words. With just listening to Jonos talk and reading and studying most of the day your passage of writing is a beautiful way to complete my evening before closing my eyes for bed. ????????
This was lovely and it sums up the same feelings I have about mindfulness. Thank you for sharing 🙂
Zander
Thanks for sharing your words – beautiful.
Steve
Thank you Zander. Your eloquent words resonated with me so much, your expressed much of my own feelings and thoughts on mindfulness.
Liz.
Very inspirational story and uplifting messages. Thank you
I’ve enjoyed all the speakers so far, but Jono your honesty and openness about your own story was really refreshing to hear. Bravo to you and thanks for the inspiration.
Great talk, thank you for sharing!
Loved this interview & the work you’re both doing in making a mindful, kinder world. Thank you
Another great interview and perspective. Thank you for continuing to bring us this information.
Beautiful, thank you Zender!
I agree entirely with Jono’s sentiments. Melli and Matt’s efforts in pulling this together are phenomenal. I am completely a mindfulness newbie having never been exposed to mindfulness in the past. So I’m exactly the target market to ‘make mindfulness mainstream’. I am LOVING the summit. I just wanted to say to Melli please don’t be put off by comments about your interview style. We are so indebted to you for putting this together. It’s only because you do it that this happens. Thank you.
Thank you both Melli and Jono for an inspiring and beautiful discussion
very much appreciate all the time work and effort from all the lovely
kind people involved in this creation. Cannot thank you enough
I would like to echo Jono’s comment and thank you Meli and all the staff involved for putting this summit on.
Thank you from Israel.
We do need kindness around here.

As a beginner trying to understand mindfulness and add this in my life I really enjoyed listening to this. Thank you
Thank you Johno and Mell for a wonderful interview in which we were lucky enough to hear the journey that Johno went on from the corporate world to form Wake-Up. And thank you Mell for all your great work in putting this wonderful summit together.
The 4th interview, and I found Jono’s open sharing of his inner process and experiencing very moving and generous. I think it is so helpful (whatever stage people are at with this process of coming into mindfulness) to hear of other people’s very human journeys. They are always, at the same time both individual and yet something we can all understand and share (and therefore feel less alone with our inner unkind critics).
I kept thinking how much I would like to be able to share this particular interview with some of the people that I am just beginning to introduce to mindfulness.
The other thing I am beginning to experience now is the benefit of the build-up of input from these talks, on a daily basis. I am in the UK, and listen in to these talks first thing in the morning, before exercise and meditation, and I find that they help me already to be in a gentler, more contemplative state to start my morning practice. Thank you!
A beautiful interview – thank you to you both
Great to ‘meet’ the person behind the “Wake up” newsletters and projects through this interview. Love your work Jono!
I find myself quite struck by the beautiful mark these two people will leave on our world. Thankyou for taking action to make mindfulness happen. One step closer to critical mass 🙂
Thank you for being a part of this beautiful journey Debbie!

Hello Jono! I am Tati and I speak from Brazil. I have tried to sign up for your podcast on iTunes and I couldn’t. I believe your service doesn’t cover Brazil, so could you please have a look at that because I would love to subscribe as soon as possible. I Expect to hear from you soon. ????❤️ Thank you.
Thanks so much – what a wonderful way to spend a Sunday morning in West Cork, Ireland. I am very grateful to have been made aware of this Summit by a friend – fantastic inputs again today – thank you Melli and Jono!
Is there anyone out there who can help me get access to the “initial” sign up pop up that enables me to access each days seminar???? When I go to the web site (the/live) for this I get no pop ups. I received an email from the Australian web site and a pop up did show up at the bottom when I followed that lead…BUT…the name slot wouldn’t activate and so I couldn’t type in my info to get the pass. After hours of mailings back and forth with a techie nothing is working. I’m discouraged and still have not listened to any of the seminars. I was told to use another browser…I have only one..Safari for my iPad (2013)…..

I really liked when Jono said that contemporary practice can bring a sense of sadness and also a sense of relief. I find theses intermingle within me as well.
Thanks to Mellia-you are awesome each day.
Another great interview. I’ll certainly be checking out The Wake Up Project. I liked what Jono said about activities in general life being used as meditation. Apart from formal practice, I now use my daily walk in the forest. I focus on the sounds and pay attention to my steps and my breath. It’s amazing what you hear when consciously listening to the sounds of the forest, all the different wildlife noises and the creaking of the trees. Lots learned from the summit so far !
I’d also like to echo what Jono said, and thank Melli and the Mindfulness Summit team for this wonderful adventure 🙂
First of all Zander, what beautiful words!! Bless you.
Secondly, Thank you Milli for doing this. Your talk with Jono was wonderful. I was surprised at him saying that meditation sometimes bring in a feeling of sadness and a need to cry. i feel this way quite often and did not know what to make of it. I am still trying to think of his perspective of this feeling. Need to observe myself more closely.
Thank you again…
Thank you!! Very touching… I felt enthusiastic with all what I listened to. I feel this world can change too. People like you Melli and Jono are making this change… in many people like us!!! Thank you!!
Really wonderful interview. Thank you.
Maravilloso , creo que encontré mi lugar para compartir en este mundo! Muchas gracias por crear este espacio.gracias a todos los que hacen posible esto y que se extienda por todo nuestro planeta, así seremos más humanos compartiendo ser humanos
Loving this series and the reminders that by daily practise we can change the world as individuals. Thank you x
Thank you both!
Wow! Onto Day 4 and am really enjoying this and look forward to the Summit each evening. Jono,i was again inspired. At some level, i found myself rolling my eyes and wondering why is this such a trend and why does it need a summit ….. Kindness is inherently human and yet we find ourselves trying to find time to be just this. I feel melancholy yet optimistically grateful for the rebound I’m sure this summit will bring. Similar to the male symptom of being emotionally ‘shy’, i feel being kind is a rarity and not so much shunned but viewed as a daring and brave act deserving of a trophy, that makes people blush. Of course it feels nice and imparts a nice feeling to the giver and the receiver, though somehow reduces the drive for people to be more open and kind, perhaps because it exposes a kindness and humility that is rare and has some kind of stigma. Does kindness have a stigma? Hope i’m wrong, if not be brave world, we love kindness. Thank you Millie and Jono
I feel really grateful and lucky to be able to take part in this summit! Thank you all for sharing this tremendous, uplifting, comforting message for the world! I am writing from France, land of the Sceptics, rationalists and cynics, hoping one day, even here, MPs and leaders will practice mindfulness… As a writer, I can also testify that inspiration and creativity come from a place deep down inside of us, a connection to the energy of the universe, and that it should be encouraged rather than looked down upon…
All the best to you all!
Cécile
This was a really lovely conversation which I enjoyed very much as I sit here in a very sunny English autumn.
Wonderful interview! Thank you both so much! I will be going back all during the day to review.
Lovely! Thank you Jono, Thank you Melli. My heart is touched and I will go outside with a smile on my face.
Jono, thank you for your honesty around your own journey. I was moved to tears at your description of the anxieties and difficulties in the early part of your journey (eg ‘it was like a punch in the guts’ when people dismissed you for being ‘only’ a nanny!). In my own experience one of the hardest parts of remaining on this ‘path’ has been others reaction to it….so one tends not to mention it.
I am fascinated by the ‘other ways’ of accessing a ‘mindful’ state as I agree one can become wedded to the idea that only through 20mins upright silent stillness can we experience this wholeness…..but fishing, walking, swimming, being with children or animals, eating a delicious meal with friends…or …just about anything if we become aware…can enable this…..and it’s really important that those involved in ‘mindfulness education’ acknowledge and help to enable this for others. Great to hear, and thank you again.
So enjoyed the talks I’ve managed to access so far. Thank you Milli and Matt too.
Hello all, I can’t thank Melli enough for making this summit available. I’ve enjoyed from day 1 and today’s talk with Jono is absolutely brilliant, how good it is that we can all share this moment and also with others here. Thank you all!
I could have listened to Jono for hours … what a wonderful human he is … thanks Meli!
This was truly fantastic. With such a simple and humble manner, Jono Fisher managed to verbalize something (his experience of the benefits of the practice) in a way that I have yet to read so clearly expressed even in the most best sellingest authority books on mindfulness and guru talks. I agree wholeheartedly that not having the vocabulary, or rather, the ability to verbalize clearly (because the vocabulary needn’t be jargon or complex) often causes us to feel unable to give ourselves credit for or even recognize ways in which we are already being present in our lives – or that we have done so and not known what to call it.
Also his words on touching the “sadness” within when you realize how much time you have spent or wastes living in the self-mind state. And how truly that moment is such a great opportunity for self-forgiveness, growth and perspective shift.
I often get stuck in this feeling. Allowing it to instead mutate into depression, self-loathing, self-pity and other variants of that ilk. It was so relieving and refreshing to hear how it can be transcended or even utilized as a platform for gaining perspective, seeing the wider. Infinite expanse of experience. Compassion grows from this.
I experienced this yesterday during a meditation and as I opened my eyes at the end and looked straight out my back window into the garden., I see the statue of the Buddha and was overcome with such an immense gratitude for him as a person – just a man who stumbled upon a Way for all of us to be free, to live the lives we deserve, to fully live it, and not waste it. What an immense gift.
I find such inspiration after listening each day. I especially feel a deep sense of wanting to share the message of being mindful with others. Melli ‘s last question to her guests really resonates with me. I ask myself what can I do in my community? How can I spread this? I am relatively new to this but find it fits like an old shoe.
Wonderful video. Though, after day four, I am still very distracted by Melli’s consistent interruptions, with “yup”, “uh huh”, “yeah”, “exactly”, “that really resonates”and the like. IMHO, Melli, perhaps a course in active listening would be beneficial. It’s difficult to concentrate on any of the speakers so far, due to your intrusive noises. I was taught to listen with the intent to understand, rather than listening with the intent to reply, as Melli appears to be doing.
Really comforting to hear that we share similar experiences. The socialization process has dimmed the connection to the Essential Awareness. This numbing can be effected by waking up. The sufis call this the war against sleep.
Thank you Jono and Melli for your sharing.
Hi from Madrid.
I am really deligthed with this experience. Getting to know all this wonderful people that put into words all their knowledge is inspiring. For me, mindfulness is a state of inner peace with everything around me, letting my emotions touch nature and enjoy life just as it is. Melli, thank you for putting all this wonderful information accesible to everyone.
What an amazing person. I really enoyed this interview as well. It’s so inspirational and for me really helping me to settle my mind and have space to not react to thoughts x
