Good article Matt. It’s good to see this practice of Mindful transitions in print. It is something I’ve been doing with my classes at school for about three years now. It’s amazing how it refocuses my kids and completely calms them. Transitions in a middle school are chaotic at best….????I have received so much positive feedback from them on how much this and other mindfulness practices we do in class help them with every part of their life.

I loved listening to Lori. I love the quote/message…”Experience Now…Post Later”. I think that all the time when I am out or with friends who cannot put their phones down. But this quote sums it up so clearly. It should be on billboards to get the message out! lol
Thank you for having her on.

I really, really enjoyed your interview with Lori Deschene! Lori said so many things that I think about, but could not get out (if that makes any sense) I could definitely relate to what Lori was thinking about. Look forward to reading her blog and buying her book.
Thanks again for another great interview! Cecelia

I really liked Lori’s outlook! (yes that thought derives from one of her favorite quotes, worry looks around, fear looks back, faith looks up, guilt looks down but I look forward. Thank you for that.

4 months ago we have lost our baby girl…she was soooo welcome.
I joined this summit for answers: why me? Why her? Why us? Why?
Everything happens for a reason they say. You are responsible for your own life.
Does it mean I killed my little girl?

    1. Jolien

Unless you intentionally did something so that your baby girl would not survive (which I’d say you didn’t, because you say she was very welcome), you absolutely did not kill your little girl.

Things might happen for a reason, but that doesn’t mean you caused those events. Say, for example, that one day you go off to ride on your bike and you get a flat tire. Because of that you meet someone who helps you out and you become great friends. That doesn’t mean you slashed your own tire.

“You are responsible for your own life. ” The way I interpret that sentence is that you decide what to do and how to react to the things that happen to you. It doesn’t mean you control everything.

Sorry for your loss Ivelina. It is a very difficult thing to lose a child.

I would encourage you to spend time listening to these presentations over and over again. Each time you listen you will gain new insights and peace for your life as you are ready to hear it.

Many blessings and much love to you as you begin to heal.

No, of course not Ivelina. Even though it is heartbroken to lose your baby girl, don’t blame yourself for that. Asking why doesn’t help…and I understand your reasons behind that question. And what I do really know is that it is not your fault. It just happened. Your precious baby girl had to be here for that short period of time and was enough for her.
I am very sorry for your lost, and I will keep you in my thoughts so you can grieve as long as you need to but hopefully you can move forward knowing that your precious baby girl will be always with you, and you will see her again one day. Believe me, she is with you, just in a different way.
I send you love, peace and comfort:)
I have a few family members already on the other side. Mom, dad, sister…I just can’t see them or touch them, but they are with me:)

Lori, you are a breath of fresh air. Your genuine humanity and authenticity speak loud and clear. Thank you for your insights and for your website. I will definitely buy your book. In fact I think I will buy one for each of my children and my husbands children. It will make a great gift for Christmas. Well done.

On another note, my daughter now lives on the other side of the globe….very close to Melli actually. It’s one of the reasons I always have my iPad at the ready when I’m home…..in the event that she Facetimes me….or I want to connect with her…..so I laughed at myself when the discussion turned to technology. I am very grateful for the ability to keep in contact with her so effortlessly and at the same time have learned to turn the volume off and put it away when it’s time to focus on other parts of my life.

    Many blessings to you.

Praise to all the speakers! Such good stuff! I wanted to give a recommendation about Vidyamala. I experience chronic pain from an injury. I read Vidyamala’s (and Danny Penman’s) book “You are not Your Pain”. It helped me a lot during a particularly difficult time. I would recommend it to anyone with any kind of pain. Thanks Vidyamal! And thanks Melli for bringing us this summit!
